Mainline Ropes

  • Purpose: Used in cable logging systems to pull logs.
  • Common Types:
    • 6×19 or 6×25 IWRC (Independent Wire Rope Core): Strong and resistant to abrasion.
    • Swaged Ropes: Compressed for higher strength and durability.

Haul back Ropes

  • Purpose: Returns the carriage to the loading area.
  • Common Types:
    • 6×26 or 6×36 IWRC: More flexible but less abrasion-resistant than mainline ropes.

Skyline Ropes

  • Purpose: Supports the weight of the carriage and logs in cable logging.
  • Common Types:
    • 8×19 or 9×25 IWRC: High strength and reduced stretch.

Choker Ropes

  • Purpose: Wrap around logs for skidding or yarding.
  • Common Types:
    • 6×19 or 6×21 IWRC: Durable and flexible for tight bends.

Straw line (Rigging Line) Ropes

  • Purpose: Used for setting up the main rigging system.
  • Common Types:
    • 6×19 Fiber Core: Lightweight for ease of handling.

Guy line Ropes

  • Purpose: Stabilizes spar trees or yarding towers.
